Dear Karenni-American donors,

We are writing to express our sincere thanks to all donation participants for the Karenni National College (KnNC) recently. We, the Karenni-American Association, believe that your donation to support higher education is not just the right choice and a worthy cause but also will make a greater impact in the lives of KnNC students in the refugee camps.

Let’s all be reminded that at one point we were all war-torn helpless refugees who survived upon other people’s generosity and donation. However, because we are now in the country that has access to a better economic opportunity, let’s do our part to continue helping those students’ higher education within our full capability.

Last year, Karenni-American Association (KnA) received an announcement, published by KnNC and its alumni group, which requests an annual membership fee of $100 per alumnus who had graduated from KnPT, KLMC, KnCC and KnNC. With full understanding of how essential KnA is in the implementation of KnNC fundraising campaign, all 6 officers unanimously accepted the task of possibly one of the biggest annual fundraising campaigns of all times. Therefore, we have been vigorous in contacting all alumni/graduates to donate $100.00 ever since.

Different marketing strategies were used to get the words out to all graduates in the United States, including the use of social media, phone call, and door knocking. The result had been very heart-warming in that a total of $4,674.00 was collected and thus wire-transferred to Ms. Suthida Anarakpongpana, a representative designated by KnNC, on January 5th 2017. Please see the attached document enclosed, especially on page 6. This campaign was additionally made possible
by Mr. Jimmy Polarbaw, Mr. Sue Reh and a few former graduates.

The KnNC emerged in 2011 from the combination of Karenni Post-Ten School (KnPT) and Karenni Leadership and Management School (KLMC). There have been a number of funding sources coming from the Karenni Education Department, Burma Program Education Office, British Embassy, Bangkok, Thabyay Education Network, WEAVE, Canadian Embassy Fund, Merriest Mission Center, Australia, and the Karenni Student Development Program (UK). You are encouraged to visithttps://www.karenninationalcollege.com for additional information.

Similarly, alumni from other countries (Canada, Finland, Australia, and New Zealand and etc.) are donating as well, $100 per alumnus annually. Current students of KnNC are also being charged a monthly fee of 100 bahts per student as part of its funding sources. The total donation collected will serve as a reserved fund in the event that current donors, such as Child’s Dream and etc., defund the KnNC. Again, the collected fund will be kept as a reserved fund till the exhaustion of current
donors. The donation will be spent on school building maintenance, teaching materials, and teachers’ stipend as outlined in the proposal (please visit KnA Facebook to see the details).

As the biggest organization in the United States, Karenni-American Association (KnA) is responsible for coordinating the donation and creating a system of transparency and accountability. As part of the accountability procedure to our Karenni-American donors, certain policies have been implemented. Below underscores some of the most important highlights.

Any donation, over $1000.00, must be transferred electronically. The recipient must be a person designated by the receiving organization in writing. Both parties must generate a receipt of donation and receipt within 14 days. Verbal conversation is not acceptable for recording purposes. Most communication must be in the recordable forms of emails, text messages, and/or transcripts for recording purposes. All donors are to receive their donation report with supporting documents
either online, email, phone call, or other notification method within a timely manner.

With this set of policy in place, the KnA will stay in touch with current donors and further reach out to future donors as well who believe in the value of a good education. Additional clarification on policy and deadlines will be posted online for your convenience. Please continue to donate by either contacting us through KnA’s Facebook or our individual emails.

Once again, thank you for your support, and we look forward to our prosperous relationship while working toward Karenni education advancement.

Sincerely,

Nic Shar
President
